Ciena provides certification in below two categories:


Ciena offers certifications in two categories:

  • Optical Communication Certification (OC Certification)
  • Ciena Routing and Switching Certification (CRS Certification)

 


These certifications are sub-categorized into levels based on expertise and prior certification. Details of the levels are as given below:

Optical Communications Certification Exam Path Guidelines as follows:


Course Level

Entry Level (Pre-Assessment for OC)

Associate Level Exam Requirements (OC-A)

Professional Level Exam Requirements (OC-P)

Consultant Level Exam Requirements (OC-C)

Requirements 

No-Prerequisite required. 


The pre-assessment is not required for the OC-A course. However, a candidate must pass the OC-A pre-assessment if the candidate wishes to skip attending the OC-A course to take the OC-A exam. 

Pre-Assessment for OC with 90% or more grades

             OR

Instructor-led (OC-A ILT) training

             OR

OC-A WBT (e-learning) course

Requirements

The pre-assessment is not required for the CRS-A course. However a candidate must pass the CRS-A pre-assessment if the candidate wishes to skip attending the CRS -A course to take the CRS -A exam.

Ciena Employee Certification Guidelines: 

  • Ciena Employees may skip attending an Associate level course and may take an Associate level certification exam.
    • Ciena Employees have two attempts to pass an exam.
      • If the employee passes the exam with a minimum score of 80%, the employee has attained that level of Certification. 
        • They will receive an email from Credly containing a link to accept and download their badge. 
      • If the employee fails both attempts to take the exam, the employee must attend that the Associate level certification course (ILT or elearning version) before they may re-attempt the exam.
        • Subsequent exams may be purchased at company cost with approval of management.

 

  • Ciena Employees may self-enroll to take any Profession (-P) or Consultant (-C) certification exam and may obtain that certification pursuant to the "Certification Exam Path Guidelines" for that exam post approval from their manager.
    • Ciena Employees have two attempts to pass an exam.
      • If the employee passes the exam with a minimum score of 80%, the employee has attained that level of Certification. 
        • They will receive an email from Credly containing a link to accept and download their badge. 
      • If the employee fails both attempts to take the exam, the employee must attend that level certification course (ILT or elearning version) before they may re-attempt the exam.
        • Subsequent exams may be purchased at company cost with approval of management.
